FRENCH ALPES: Chamonix is the legendary alpine destination for ski entusiast that are craving steep slopes.
But there are far more to do in this city in the French Alps!
The houses are adorable, and there are plenty of cosy cafes and restaurants to visit. Remember, this is a French town, with all the culinary and sophistication of other French places. Here you can have good champagne to enjoy in the spring sun, for just a quarter of the price in Norway.
There is good shopping, spas and a lot of sights. I would recommend taking the train or the cabelcars up the mountain side, even though you don´t carry skies. The views are amazing! And the ice caves in the glacier Mer de Glace by Mont Blanc is well worth the visit. And that is a visit which best without skies.
Chamonix is so spectacular.
The city is surrounded by mountains.
And in spring you can enjoy lunch in the warm rays of the sun.

The city is cozy, and has a lot of open plazas.
And traditional alp houses.
There are a lot of cafes and restaurants.
And good champagne.
Take the abel car up one of the mountains.
Or the train.
And just sit there enjoying the view.
You can read a book.
Look at the paraglider all around.
Or try tandem gliding your self.
Or take a tour of the city by horse.
And there is amazing after ski. Always live music at Chambre neuf.
The next day you can go up to the restaurant at Aiguille du Midi. 3 842 meters above sea level.
Or go to the spa.
Or take the train to the famous glacier Mer de Glace.
The most daring skiers ski here, but you have to go with a guide.
Inside the glacier there is a cave.
With many halls..
ice sculptures and.
It is a popular tourist sight.
For the ones without skies.
You can take a abel car down to the area.
But everyone, skiers from the glacier and the tourists, have to walk the path up.
It is heavier with ski bots.
So the non skiers are the happiest on the way up.
Close by there is a glacier museum.
And both a restaurant and a cafe to sit and relax and..
Enjoy the rocky views.
And then you can relax in the sunny city afterwards.
