GAMBIA: My father is from the Gambia, but my first visit to the country was in 2010. My canon camera slowly died after a visit at the sandy beach in the area Kololi, and I started taking iphone pics. That is just one of the minor reasons way this trip was special to me.
This is from the fishing beach in the capital of Gambia, Banjul. I like how the birds are flying frenetic, in contrast to the peaceful flower.
Banjul beach is full of birds, and dogs.
They have opened so many new cafes on the beach, I heard. Had to check it out…
Got reassured by these restaurants though.
The biggest city in the Gambia, Serekunda, has almost only red dirt roads.
A traditional naming ceremony consists of shaving the head of a baby boy.
This photo is taken by a friend. I was filming with my iphone, but everyone thought the guy with the big camera was much cooler.
Nuts
I love these guys in their colorful clothes.
In Africa the kids call me white girl. And everyone wants to hold hands with me. LOL
Is it the moon, or the sun? Do not know. Never seen anything like this at mid day.
Gambian roads are tricky. Had to change tires twice on a day trip to Soma.
My family in the countryside had a picture of me as a kid.
Kids in the window
I love the dirt combined with the colors in this picture.
My new friend. We became instantly close, and decided to color coordinate your outfits. Looks kind of cool I think.
But with his friends, he is not so friendly any more..
Everyone visits this restaurant. Never really understand why, besides for the monkeys around it.
Ok, do understand why.
My friend call this tree the gambian facebook. These are adds from taxi drivers etc.
