NORWAY: I love traveling to far away exotic places, but recently I have found out that traveling in my own country is quite nice as well. And you do not even have to travel far to see new places.
Just an hour drive from Oslo you get a really different atmosphere than the busy city life. Yesterday I went to Hvitsten for the first time. And this small place really have most of the things I like to see when traveling: a beach, art, lots of lush green vegetation and of course – exotic animals 🙂
Recomended!
Hvitsten jused to be Norways smallest city, but lost its city status in 1964. Here is the old church and old school.
The park around the area is so nice. And should be used with joy, the signs around it says.
I love this dancing figurehead.
All over Hvitsten there are old figureheads from the ships of the Norwegian shipping company Fred Olsen. The family have several houses in Hvitsten.
Like this..
and this..
And this.
Right outside of Hvitsten is the ecological farm, Ramme gård. It is owned by Fred Olsens son, Petter Olsen. The Nedre Ramme area was owned by the famous Norwegian painter Edvard Munch from 1910 to 1944.
At the Ramme farm you can see a lot of exotic animals.
